Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Kubernetes Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Kubernetes and will be responsible for managing and optimizing Kubernetes clusters in production environments. You will work also closely with application operations teams to ensure the efficient deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Kubernetes Cluster Management:
Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters in production, staging, and development environments.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of Kubernetes clusters.
Implement Kubernetes best practices, including resource management, autoscaling, and cluster upgrades.
Manage Kubernetes networking components like services, ingress controllers, and network policies.
Infrastructure Automation:
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Kubernetes clusters using tools like Argocd and Jenkins.
Automate the provisioning, configuration, and scaling of Kubernetes clusters.
Develop custom scripts and automation tools to improve cluster management and monitoring.
Monitoring and Logging:
Set up and manage monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/EFK stacks for Kubernetes clusters.
Implement logging and alerting mechanisms to proactively address issues.
Monitor cluster performance and health, and perform troubleshooting as needed.
Conduct root cause analysis for any production issues and implement preventive measures.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and manage Kubernetes security policies, including role-based access control (RBAC) and network policies.
Ensure compliance with security best practices, including the use of secrets, encryption, and secure service-to-service communication, Admission control policies etc
Conduct regular security audits of Kubernetes clusters and implement necessary patches and updates.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
Strong understanding of containerization technologies, particularly Docker.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their Kubernetes offerings (EKS, GKE, AKS).
Any experience of Gardener is an added advantage.
Skills:
Proficiency in Kubernetes, including pod scheduling, resource management, and scaling.
Experience with Helm for managing Kubernetes packages.
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and their integration with Kubernetes. Argocd experience is a plus.
Knowledge of networking, storage, and security within Kubernetes environments.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with service mesh technologies like Istio
Familiarity with Kubernetes Operators and custom resource definitions (CRDs).
Experience with multi-cluster and hybrid cloud Kubernetes deployments.
