Software Developer - PERL

POSITION & REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:

As a key member of the team, the Software Engineer will work alongside internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality products and services. This role will involve collaborating with various departments such as Engineering, Product Management, and Internal QA to drive and maintain top-notch quality performance. They’re looking for a skilled back-end developer to join their team of creators who are consistently raising the bar for user experience. Working behind the scenes, the ideal candidate will have a unique blend of technical expertise, insatiable curiosity, and analytical mindset. This person should be comfortable working independently as well as with a team in the design and development of mission-critical applications and layers of infrastructure. Experience with Azure and Git is helpful to succeed quickly in this role. The back-end developer will have an immediate effect on their business success as well as the success of their clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write code and tests, build prototypes, resolve issues, and profile and analyze bottlenecks
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Perl and related technologies.
• Optimize and refactor legacy Perl code for performance and maintainability.
• Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met, and allow for regression testing
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and continuous improvement.

Required skills and qualifications

• Excellent foundation in computer science, algorithms, and web design
• Experience in writing highly secure web applications
• Experience with core technologies like Perl, MySQL, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Growth mindset that challenges the status quo and focuses on outside-the-box ideas and solutions

PREFERED

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science
• Experience with modern Perl practices (e.g., Moose, DBIx::Class).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
• 5 years of experience in Perl programming
• Experience in Databases

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

GENERAL:
