Join a global airline where your career can truly take off. Here, you’ll be part of an international team, shaping the future of travel while enjoying growth opportunities, training, and a dynamic work environment. Be part of a company that values people as much as destinations.
Because of the rapidly changing environment, our partner company has set its aim to become the most data & technology-driven airline in the world. Changing their way of working, modernizing their technology stack and architecture and the right positioning of people is key to achieving this ambition. They have organized their product teams around business processes, where together business and IT are end-to-end responsible for the digital products and services that support their operation.
We are looking for Data Engineers. As a data engineer you get ready for a future full of smart data solutions by building a robust data foundation!
As a Data Engineer, you will build modern data pipelines and data lake solutions to replace legacy systems. You’ll develop new features while also redesigning existing flows, always with data quality as a top priority. Our stack includes Scala Spark on GCP for large-scale processing, NoSQL databases for real-time pipelines, and SQL (BigQuery) to support analysts and data scientists. The role requires both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills, balancing design, engineering, and collaboration. You’ll work in a dynamic, international environment with clear career paths and growth opportunities. The team consists of skilled engineers across multiple locations, united by a passion for data-driven innovation.
We are looking for passionate and talented Data Engineers who (aspire to) specialize in Data Engineering. With everything you do, you keep the end goal in mind. You are capable of doing analyses and discovering the core problem quickly, while designing proper solutions for this. Next to that you can explain these issues in an understandable way to stakeholders at every level of the organization. You look for opportunities, make actions out of them and convince the decision makers. We are looking for Data Engineers from varying levels of expertise, from junior to medior. Recently graduated candidates are also encouraged to apply!
Besides this you:
• Preferably have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other relevant fields (less important considering work experience)
• Have at least two years of experience building production-grade data processing systems as a Data Engineer
• Can deal with the complexity of processing very large sets of data
• Have experience with 1 or more server-side programming languages, e.g. Scala (preferred), Python, Java, C++, etc.
• Understand REST API best practices
• Understand common algorithms and data structures
• Have experience with building software interacting with databases and SQL
• Have knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment techniques
• Have experience with automated testing
• Are fluent in English
• Demonstrate ownership and take initiative
• Are being able to work independently
• Are a team player and familiar with Agile way of working
• Are analytical and able to compare data sets
• Are able to quickly acquire domain knowledge and able to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders with all their own requirements and expectations
It is considered a plus (not a requirement) if you have:
• Knowledge of - and hands-on experience with - the Google Cloud ecosystem;
• Knowledge of streaming data pipelines or APIs
• Experience in building production applications with Apache Spark (Dataproc); Structured-streaming is a big plus,
• Experience with NoSQL solutions like Bigtable or HBase; including knowledge about data modeling for columnar storage;
• Experience with Apache Kafka;
• Experience in developing on a cloud platform.
