Datacenter Engineer

Requirements
  • Have 13 years experience in Datacenter operations
  • Basic network routing and switching knowledge
  • Basic security operation experience
  • Basic Windows and/or Linux/Unix knowledge (including Server OS installation and management)
  • Vendor coordination
  • Experience with ticketing system
  • Basic tasks:
  • Hard and soft IMACs in Data Center
  • Install and maintain replacement hardware and software
  • Unpacking, racking and stacking, railing, asset tagging, initial jumpstart of servers, install to designated racks, power connectivity, network connectivity, fiber connectivity from device to corresponding patch panel and PDUs.
  • Replace defective parts and systems, including those for preventive maintenance as required.
  • Escort service for external vendors and service technicians
  • Hands and feet support for Tape Media
  • Provide an annual audit of tape media stores at the off-site and primary data center locations, if applicable
  • Conduct regular audits and comparisons between the tape library physical inventory and the tape library management inventory
  • Load encrypted tapes into/remove from tape libraries
  • Monitor and tracking usage of consumables and storing consumables
  • Perform diagnostics on hardware, software, peripherals and related hardware components
  • General Operations and Maintenance
  • Assist in projects, support sub-contractors or others in area of assignment to design, install, maintain, repair or build equipment or systems
  • Support Tools
  • Logs will be maintained to track tool and equipment history and, if necessary, initiate preventive maintenance and recertification/recalibration work
  • Data Center Physical Touch actions
  • Provide dedicated support Services for Customer users during scheduled Customer business hours
  • Monitor ticket queue for new tickets and assign as appropriate
  • Data Center Maintenance
  • Hardware movements
  • Relocating all equipment as related to the project scope, which includes, but is not limited to: computers and servers, lab equipment, and prototype systems. This equipment may be found in offices, labs, test floor areas, and data centers
  • Datacenter hands and feet which also includes install and configure hardware. Includes updating CMDB with any new CI added to environment
  • Install hardware and software (initial image/jumpstart) according to agreed upon standards Datacenter Engineer
